Beginning September
7, 2008
Ryot Church of the
Nazarene Sunday School will look and sound a little different. For the past 11
month to one year, there has been much prayer and consideration, countless
meetings and vision casting, done in consideration of beginning a new Family
Ministry Model uniting the entire church. The Family Ministry Model is scheduled
in place of traditional Sunday School for children and youth ages. We’re
so excited that all the prayers, vision and planning are coming full circle and
even more excited to reach our community. Everyone is welcome, please
come....Worship and experience the presence of God with us!
First Look
(birth
to age 4)
First Look meets every
Sunday morning beginning at 10:45 am and uses several key strategies:
-
Teach less
for more - Repeats one key truth (Bottom Line) all month long.
-
Engage the
five senses - Helps master the concept through creative activities.
-
Teach with
the end in mind - Helps a child by age five, to believe:
| |
God Made Me
God Loves
Me
Jesus Wants to be My Friend Forever
|
|
- Experience worship - Encourages children to
talk to God any time, any place.
- Connect at home - Provides parents with
ideas for conversation with their child at home.
Up Street
(K-6th
grade)
Up Street
(252Basics curriculum) meets every Sunday morning
beginning at 10:45 am and is a unique approach to curriculum for churches and
Christian schools. It is built around three Basic Truths every child should
embrace according to what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52.
I need to make the wise choice
I can trust God no matter what
I should treat others the way I want to be treated
Each Basic Truth is amplified by a weekly key concept and systematically
taught over a three-year track. The curriculum includes 150 Bible stories and
is based on a Core Virtue and Memory Verse as the framework for each month.
XP3
(7th-12th grade)
XP3 (Experience 3) meets every Sunday evening beginning at
6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall and is about experiencing three things . . .
WONDER * DISCOVERY *
PASSION
Wonder:
Every one of us has a desire to marvel. We are looking for something to amaze
us, something to incite wonder. There's a generation of students growing up in
today's church who somehow miss the wonder of who God really is and believe that
He isn't big enough for their experiences.
Discovery:
We are wired for adventure. We are curious from the womb. We want to explore, to
see something we have never seen, something that helps us understand new things
about ourselves. Many students today never make the discovery of who they are in
light of God's truth, and many feel that He isn't relevant to their lives.
Passion:
We long to make a connection, to make a difference, to have intimacy, romance,
companionship. Many students today fail to engage in a God-given passion to
become involved in the lives of others. They don't feel He is real enough for
their relationships.

Note
to Parents/Guardians:
**So
that you receive your child’s very important
weekly
Small Talk Card or God Time Card and Refrigerator door magnet, we are asking
Parents/Guardians to drop-off and pick-up your child(ren) at their classroom.
Your child will not be permitted to leave without you.**
ALSO-
Be sure
to drop by the Adult Bible Study classroom
each month
to
pick-up your family’s Virtue Pack. This is a special tool designed to help you
engage with your child(ren) all month long as he or she learns about each
Virtue. We are asking for a donation of $10.00 each month for Virtue packs to
help defer our cost in providing them to you; however, it is not required-we
want everyone to be able to have this special tool and enjoy the time using it
with your child(ren)!
